Lebanon is experiencing several crises: political, economic, and financial, and the water sector is also paying the price. The country, located at the crossroads of the Mediterranean Basin and the Arab hinterland, is found in one of the most vulnerable places in the world to climate change, but it is human interference that plays the bigger part in water systems’ degradation.

Since 2018, IWMI has supported the Lebanese government to develop its water reuse policies through the ReWater MENA initiative.

Jordan is one of the MENA countries facing severe water shortages. The rampant increase in water demand by the municipal sector and the large consumptive use of water by agriculture are definitely beyond the country’s water budget.

On July 28, 2021, ReWater MENA project organized the 5th National Learning Alliance (NLA) Consultation Dialogue on “Egypt 2030 Shared Water Reuse Strategy”, in partnership with the Center for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE), which represents the fifth in a series of six national dialogues over the past two years. The NLA Dialogue aims to agree on the main outlines and elements of the strategy.

On June 28th, 2021, ReWater MENA project in partnership with the Center for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE), organized the 4th National Steering Committee (NSC) Virtual Meeting in Egypt to discuss the progress made in "Egypt 2030 Water Reuse Targets". The objective of the meeting was to update the (NSC) on the results of the latest NLA meeting and to discuss the upcoming National Learning Alliance (NLA) Dialogue.

ReWater MENA project, in cooperation with the Centre for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE), organized the Fourth National Learning Alliance (NLA) Virtual Dialogue in Egypt on Water Reuse to validate the national and local targets for water reuse 2030.
