4th National Steering Committee Meeting

On June 28th, 2021, ReWater MENA project in partnership with the Center for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE), organized the 4th National Steering Committee (NSC) Virtual Meeting in Egypt to discuss the progress made in "Egypt 2030 Water Reuse Targets". The objective of the meeting was to update the (NSC) on the results of the latest NLA meeting and to discuss the upcoming National Learning Alliance (NLA) Dialogue.

The meeting started by Dr. Khaled M.AbuZeid, the Regional Director of Water Resources at CEDARE, who welcomed all participants and introduced the new ones as well. Then Dr. Amgad El Mahdi, Head of IWMI MENA office, chaired the meeting and gave a brief summary on IWMI's work in the region especially the role of ReWater MENA project in water reuse, followed by Dr. Nisreen Lahham, the Regional Manager of ReWater MENA project, who gave shed light on the most important achievements of the project, especially in Egypt.

Dr. AbuZeid presented his first presentation on the results of the previous meeting on “Egypt 2030 Water Reuse Targets” Validation NLA Meeting. He said that 24 Targets were agreed upon, 10 local Targets and 14 national Targets. He also explained how to validate these Targets. National and local, and presented the specific plan of the project to prepare this strategy.

AbuZeid made the second presentation, which is the preparation for the 5th National Learning Alliance Dialogue for the “Consultation on Egypt 2030 Water Reuse Strategy”. He talked about 3 main points, namely the annotated strategy outline, 5th NLA Consultation Dialogue Activities and 5th NLA Dialogue Logistics.

In conclusion, Dr. Khaled AbuZeid and Dr. Amgad expressed their appreciation for the comments of the participants and agreed to prepare the 5th National Learning Alliance Dialogue for the “Consultation on Egypt 2030 Water Reuse Strategy” shortly.
